I have wanted the YSL Lou camera bag for awhile, but every time I watch videos on YouTube or read reviews they seem to have negative things to say about the quality. The top complaints I've seen are that it sags quickly and that the leather is easily scratched. It’s roomy but a tad wider and a tad shorter than the soho. I also hesitate because I can’t decide if I like the Lou camera bag better than this bag. If it’s hardware and a dressier look that you want, Mormont or Lou camera bag are good choices. I thought I’d start a thread on the Saint Laurent YSL Manhattan bags. This is apart of Saint Laurent’s more subtle designs and I like the clean, minimalist look of the bags. Do others like these bags too? Please post any photos or questions about the Manhattan collection here. There are some toy LouLou’s in the YSL private sale at 30% off I just ordered one, non velvet though. I’ve been eyeing this bag for a few months and watched & read a ton of reviews. The leather seems to be very durable and doesn’t need to be babied.
Here are some photos I had saved on my phone of someone wearing this exact Saint Laurent YSL Envelope Tri Quilt Bag. You can get an idea of how it looks like on with different outfits. They are actually selling some of the toy Lou Lou’s for the pre-November price increase. There is a big difference between the set Euro price and dollar price. For example buying direct from YSL, the toy lou lou is now €1390 including tax which converts to 92. The same bag is €1850 before taxes.
My vote is for the Loulou because you can dress it either up or down, while the Lou is more casual. In terms of an investment the Loulou might potentially be a better choice since the design is unique to Saint Laurent, whereas camera bags styles are found across most fashion houses. Of course I'm only guessing.
The large size YSL WOC is pretty close in price to the diorama WOC but of course it's quite a bit larger. I will have to research the durability of the Diorama as well as what it can hold. Chanel is a bit over my price range and the WOC doesn't have the removeable chain to turn it . I am looking to purchase a YSL bag (Sunset or College). I am leaning toward the Sunset as it looks a bit more dressy and I would want this bag to take me from day to night events (although I wouldn't use it as an everyday bag).
